FESLR ACCEPTS BLOG POST SUBMISSIONS YEAR-ROUND

Online Submissions
The Florida Entertainment and Sports Law Review (FESLR) is the University of Florida Levin College of Law’s exclusive online entertainment and sports law publication. FESLR features practical essays and articles by law professors, judges, practicing attorneys, entertainment executives, sports executives, current law students, and academic scholars from other disciplines.
We welcome any submission that meaningfully contributes to practical legal discourse related to the fields of entertainment and sports, provides readers clear takeaways on how to approach emerging legal issues, and educates readers about relevant industry topics.

Submission Guidelines
Length: Articles published in FESLR generally range between 18-25 pages, are single-spaced, and have a minimum of 50 footnotes. FESLR does not have a maximum page count, however, submissions longer than 30 pages will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances.
Article Structure: We will work with the author(s) a few times in the editing process to get their input prior to publication. At a minimum, manuscripts should come to us including an introduction, a roadmap of the article, key takeaways, legal analysis of the topic, and a conclusion.
Manuscript Format: All manuscripts should be sent via Microsoft Word, have Times New Roman 11-pt font, have footnotes instead of endnotes, and have numbered pages.
Submission Requirements via Scholastica: We accept electronic submissions to Scholastica.

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Click the “Submit a Manuscript” button.
  3. Find FESLR and add it to your cart.
  4. Proceed to the Manuscript Form.
  5. Carefully review your submission and Submit.

Submission Requirements via E-mail: E-mail submissions should be sent to FESLR.law.ufl.edu. The subject line of the email should read “FESLR Article Submission - Author(s) Last Name.”
All submissions must include:

  1. A cover letter, which should prominently feature the following:
    ● the title of the manuscript,
    ● the author(s) valid, primary e-mail address,
    ● a daytime telephone number,
    ● a word count for the manuscript (including footnotes)
  2. A brief abstract (under 150 words) on a separate page:
    ● Though not required, it may also be advantageous for the abstract to explain why the submission addresses an issue that is topical, intuitive, and important under the criteria set forth above.
  3. A copy of the manuscript; and
  4. The author’s most recent resume or curriculum vitae.

Submission Considerations
When drafting and submitting manuscripts to FESLR, we encourage authors to keep in mind whether the submissions are relevant, clear, and captivating.
● Relevant
● Does the submission address a contemporary legal issue related to the entertainment or sports industries? Is the article centered around a
topic relevant in the industry within the past 90 days? Does the article
revive or highlight new developments of an industry topic?
● Clear
● Is there a clear roadmap from start to finish on what the reader should gain from the article? Does the submission provide context for
foundational areas of law? Would anyone be able to read the
submission and be able to follow along?
● Captivating
● Is the submission likely to have a practical impact, either on
practitioners, the legal academic community, or society as a whole?
Does the submission tell a full story and provide clear takeaways for
the reader to apply in their work or in professional circles? Does the
article anticipate the reader’s questions?
